Karachi: Train collision kills two, wounds 40

KARACHI: Two people were killed including a  railway guard was killed and 40 passengers sustained injuries when two trains collided near Gajjar Patkah some 50 kms from here early Monday morning.This was stated by the Superintendent Police, Pakistan Railways Karachi, Arshad Kamal Kiyani.He said Shalimar Express heading towards Karachi hit the stationary Millat Express in the rear damaging three of its bogies. The engine of Shalimar Express was also damaged. However, the passengers of the Shalimar Express train remained safe.Kiyani said that the guard of the Millat Express identified as Ali Asghar was killed in the accident. Forty of the passengers were taken to Jinnah Hospital and condition of one of them was stated to be serious.He further stated that Railway traffic was suspended in the wake of the accident.Kiyani said that a relief train was arranged and that buses had also been arranged to ferry the passengers to Karachi.
